Been busy again....

I have been mass producing again this week.  I made 16 thank you cards from my daughter's friends party, 8 birthday invitations for Sam's upcoming birthday and 8 thank you's for this birthday party.

I used some designer paper and ribbon in my stash and the image from Crazy for Cupcakes.

I kept Sam's birthday invitations very simple.  I used some designer paper from a simply scrappin' kit and the Party Hearty stamp set.

I decided to be proactive and make the thank you's for Sam's party too.  I used the same Simply Scrappin' kit and the Party Hearty set for the thank you's as well.

They are pretty simple but that's best when you are mass producing.

Nicholas' birthday is in March too.  He wants a rockstar themed party.  I'll have to start on those soon cuz his birthday is two weeks after Sam's.  It's party central around here in February and March!

Recipe Challenge #37

For this week's recipe challenge card we were to use the following items:

-Flowers
-stickles or glitter
-buttons

I just got this adorable new stamp image from Bellas called Huggabuggs.  I don't often stray from my Stampin' Up! stamps but I couldn't resist this cute image! 

You can't really see the sparkle from this photo but I used home-made stickles on the hearts on the body of the huggabug.  Home-made stickles is just mixing crystal effects and dazlling diamonds glitter.  I used an empty reinker bottle and combined the two.  It works great!  I used some dp I had in my stash and a flower I just got from Paper Source and ribbon and buttons I had in my stash.

I want to show you a couple of goodies I received for my birthday.  The first picture is of a can of Sprinkles cupcake mix!  I went to Sprinkles, a gourmet cupcake shop, with my friend Ellen when I went to see her in California last spring.  Now I get to make the cupcakes at home!  Yummo!!!

Then my friend Kristina gave me these for my birthday.  Cupcake Converse tennies!  Woohoo!

My dh bought me a tv for my craft room.  I was pretty spoiled this birthday!

Chocolate Sundae

This is a fun image!  It comes from the stamp set Goody Goody Gumdrops.  It's almost as fun as cupcakes.  When it comes to actually eating dessert I'd rather have an icecream sundae.  I love the image of cupcakes though.  You should see what I got today!  I'll show you once I get a picture.  Anyway, here's the picture of my card for today.

Recipe challenge #36

I gave the challenge on Tamara's sketch blog this week for the recipe design team.  Here was the challenge:

-Something you have been hoarding
-flowers
-bling

This card came together very quickly.  I have tons of products I have been hoarding so I just had to choose one of them.  The cherries are a chipboard embellishment.  I hadn't even opened the package yet so I busted it open and popped that baby out.  I had the circle scallop laying on my desk so I adhered it to that.  The paper is the DCWV paper pack called Sweet.  I found a piece that went great with the cherries!  The three little flowers on the bottom are primas I have been hoarding and some bling in the middle.  Hop on over to Tamara's blog to see what the rest of the design team came up with.

I have been making an effort this past couple of months to start using the pretty supplies I have been collecting.  It all started with altering this bingo card here.  Lisa issued us a challenge to alter the bingo card.  I had just bought some new cupcake rub-ons.  Chances are those rub-ons would have come home with me and added to my pile of supplies that never get touched.  But because I needed to alter this project I busted them open and used them.  It felt good!  It started me on a quest to start using my supplies instead of hoarding them.  I challenge you to give this a try.  Once you start using them you wonder why you have been hoarding them!

Valentine's surprise

Valentine's day at our house this year was a bit hectic.  We were getting ready for my daughter, Rebecca's, family birthday party the next day.  While rushing around preparing my dh leaned over and pointed to his coat pocket.  I gave him a puzzled look and he said to look inside.  I pulled out a box.  Inside the box was..............

Did you see it?  No?  Here's a closer look.

A silver cupcake ring!  Woohoo!  I was pleasantly surprised!  We don't usually get big gifts for each other on Valentine's.  Especially because my birthday is only 6 days away.  Needless to say I was excited!  Boy my hands look beat up!  That's all the hands-on manual labor I do around the house.  Hehhehe. 

As for the rest of Valentines, my daughter was serving at a dinner that night for a fundraiser for a Mission trip she's going on this summer.  My dh and 2 sons had a Valentine's dinner at home.  I gave them each small gifts and then we popped popcorn and watched the movie, Robots, on the big screen.  I had never seen the movie before.  It was good!

Ice Cream Social

I was in a WOW card swap this week.  In amongst my crazy Valentine stamping I cranked out 11 cards for this card swap.  The stamp set, Goody Goody gumdrops, is a Level 3 Stampin' Up! hostess only stamp set.  This set has been calling my name!  I was excited to finally sit down and stamp with it!

Valentines

I have been so busy in the past couple of days making Valetines for my 3 kids.  I made 27 atcs for my 8 year old Sam's class.

Then my 10 year old, Nicholas, said he wanted 30 for his class.  So I made these.

Then my 15 year old Rebecca, decided she wanted 14 Valentines for her friends.  So she helped me make these.

Then I felt the need to make something special for my two boys' teachers.  So I made these.

If all that wasn't enough I had to make 11 cards for a WOW card swap I was in.  I'll show you those later.  I also have a party to get ready for tonight.  This is the busiest mass producing I've done since convention swaps!  Whew!  A whole lotta stampin' going on around here!

Recipe Challenge#35

For this week's recipe challenge I combined the challenge with a technique called Cracked Glass.  You can view a tutorial for it here.  The recipe challenge this week was to used patterned paper, 1 or more hearts, and ribbon.  Check out what the other gals on the recipe challenge team came up with on Tamara's blog here.

I thought this Sale-a-bration stamp set, Botanical Blooms, lent itself nicely to this technique.

Other:  Top note Sizzix die, oval scallop sizzix die, ribbon bundle(sale-a-bration), glassy glaze embossoing powder, heart to heart punch

We did this technique at stamp club last night.  It can be kind of putzy but I think it's worth the effect!

Funky Trees

This stamp set caught my eye right away when I first glanced through the new Stampin' Up! catalog.  It's called Trendy Trees.  I haven't had enough time to play with it.  This is the first and only card I have come up with so far.  I think this would make great masculine cards!  Aren't we always looking for those kinds of sets?

I embossed the front of the card with the new Stampin' Up! Sizzix texturz plates.  The trees are stamped and aligned with the stamp-a-ma-jig and punched out with the curly label punch.  The hearts are punched out with the new Heart to Heart punch.

We survived my daughter's 15th birthday celebration with her friends.  She had guys and girls sledding at a local hill.  Then we had them all back to our house for hot chocolate, birthday brownies and icecream, ping pong, the Wii and hanging out.  There were 17 teenagers in our basement.  It went remarkably well.  The guys left at 5:00 and then the girls stayed for a sleepover.  It was a nice group of kids.  The birthday girl had a great time!

Party make-n-takes

As promised I am posting the make-n-takes we did at my last 2 Sale-a-bration parties.  The first one is a CASE from this card I saw on Splitcoast.  I thought it was pretty but simple.  I just changed it a little bit by using Sale-a-bration paper for the background.

The next 2 cards I came up with all by my lonesome!  This first one uses the Sale-a-bration stamp called Botanical Blooms.  I wanted a different look for it so we stamped the flowers with jetblack stazon on watercolor paper.  Then we picked up color with reinkers and painted with the aquapainter.  The rosette flower has pirouette pink in the middle and riding hood red on the outside.  The other flower has apricot appeal on the inside and tangerine tango on the outside. 

The final card uses the Daisies Sizzix die and the buttons sizzix die.  We cut the largest daisy out in tempting turquoise and the middle sized daisy in vellum cardstock.  The button is cut out with brown fun foam.  It turned out to be a good match for chocolate chip!

It's been such a busy week!  My son Nicholas was home sick for three days with gunk that's been going around.  Then yesterday I got a call from school that my 8 year old, Sam, got poked in the eye during gym class.  I brought him to the eye doctor and it turns out his cornea got torn!  Yikes!  He was a real trooper and was very brave.  Even the doctor said so!  Amazingly the cornea repairs itself within a day so he's pretty much back in business.  Tomorrow is my daughter's 15th birthday.  How did that happen?
The kids have a late start day and then I'm taking her to get her hair cut, brows waxed and then off to dinner.  We have a couple of more parties for her yet.  She's having her friends' party on Saturday and the family party the following weekend.  The fun never stops here!
