Little Cutie

I had this image already colored and laying around my craft room so I decided to put it together on a card.  I used up some of the papers from my stash.  It's kind of busy and bright but I kind of like it.

We have a busy weekend of soccer tournaments this weekend.  What are your plans?  My daughter has finals next week so she's loaded down with homework.  My boys are just counting down the days until the end of school- just 4 left!  I have a busy summer ahead of me running them everywhere.

Recipe Challenge#50

Whew!  Can you believe we are on recipe challenge#50?  Unfortunately, this is the last recipe challenge for awhile.  Tamara's taking a break from the recipe challenges for a few months but she will be back in late July/early August with a design team call.  You may want to give it a try!

Anywho, for this week's challenge we had to use the following:

-hardware
-dry embossing
-notebook paper

I thought it was appropriate to end this recipe challenge team with a cupcake card cuz I love 'em!  This cupcake is from the Michael's dollar spot a few months back.  I stamped the journaling tag on white cardstock and the cut it out and punched the edge with the spiral edge punch.  This is my notebook paper.  The dry embossing is hard to see - the background paper is dry embossed with large dots and the flowers are embosslits that are embossed and then punched out with my boho blossoms punch.  The cupcake is colored in with copic markers.  Check out what the rest of the Recipe challenge team came up with on Tamara's blog. 

We had a beautiful Memorial weekend here in Minnesota.  Unfortunately my son, Nick got the flu.  He's out sick from school today.  Hopefully, he'll be back in school tomorrow.

Tools and Butterflies

These were a couple of the cards we made at a Stampin' Up! party for Joanne last Saturday.  The first card is a masculine card.  Father's day is coming up so masculine seemed in order.  It's a partial case from this card.

I used the Totally Tool stamp set.  This one is a must have for me because my dh is a handy guy.  I'll be able to use this set for father's day, birthday, scrapbooking, and any other occasion I may need for him.
The base is textured Basic Grey cardstock.  The texture works great for a masculine card.  The three panels behind the image are really rust and the main image is backed by Close to Cocoa.

The next card is my first one with the my new Butterfly Sizzix die.  I'm not that big on butterflies but I've seen such beautiful projects made with this die that I caved in and bought it for myself.  This card is very simple.  The designer paper is the Walk in the Park from the Occasions mini catalog.  I adhered the dp to some chipboard and ran them both through the big shot together.  Easy peasy!  I wrapped some Basic Grey taffeta ribbon around the butterfly and tied it off with the linen thread.  The words are a rub-on from the Chit-Chit rub on set.

I hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend!  My dh and I are going out tonight to celebrate our anniversary.  It was on Tuesday but we're celebrating tonight.  Then on Monday we are having a potluck bbq to say goodbye to some neighbors that are moving to Colorado.  So far the weather has been beautiful.  Hopefully it continues.  Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe Challenge#49 and New Design Team!

This is my card for Tamara's Recipe Challenge design team this week. 

The criteria was the following:

-chipboard
-buttons
-flowers

I rolled all three things into one element-the flower!  There is chipboard behind the die cut flower and the button is a sizzix button.  Check out what the rest of the design team came up with on Tamara's blog. 

Last week I posted a blurb about a new stamp and scrap site coming to blogland.  It's called Scrap and Stamp.  I love combining stamping and scrapbooking so this is right up my alley.  I'm thrilled to announce that I will be on the Scrap and Stamp design team!!!  Whoohoo!!!  There will be a challenge every other week and myself and the rest of the design team will post scrapbook pages with the challenge.  You can play along too!  There will be a prize for some lucky winner of the challenge.  You can also be a guest designer too.  The first challenge will be on June 6 so stop by to see what it is and to see all of the fabulous pages the design team comes up with!  Thank you so much to Alex and Melissa for selecting me for this design team.  I can't wait to get started!!!

Stampin' Success Box

I saw a cute box on the cover of the monthly magazine Stampin' Up! demonstrators get and I knew I wanted to make it for my hostess today.  I used the textured Tango Tangerine cardstock.  I love how images look stamped on the textured cardstock and best of all it's part of this month's special!  I finally broke out the ribbon originals Pigtails ribbon pack. I've been hoarding this way too long.  You gotta love that kiwi kiss polka dot ribbon!  I used the Enjoy the Moment stamp set for the stamped images and the flourish on the top note die came from the Doodle This(or is it That?) stamp set.

The build a brad is the finishing touch in the middle of the flower.

Monkey Business

I was just playing with some stamps that haven't seen any love lately.  The monkey is from the Zoofari stamp set. 

The patterned paper is from the Level 1 hostess patterned paper pack.  I distressed the edges of the red circle.

May stamp club projects

These were the 3 cards we made in my monthly stamp clubs this month.  The first one is a layered Sizzix flower card.  We used the Stampin' Up! Sizzix Flower layers with leaf.  The middle is done with the large grommets from the Occasions mini catalog and the jumbo brads from the regular Stampin' Up! catalog. We put a rub-on on top of the brad.  The words are from the Hugs and Wishes stamp set, and the ribbon is white organza ribbon with black and white gingham ribbon wrapped around it.

This second card is one of the watercolor roses that are all over blogland.  The tutorial for this is on Patty Bennett's blog.

 

This last card uses an old time favorite technique of mine called Faux Fairy Dust.  You can't see it very well but the whole main image is sparkly.  That's because after it was stamped we dabbed the white panel with versamark and poured irridescent ice embossing powder over the whole thing and embossed it.  It's definitely a wow technique!

 

These three cards went over very well with my stamp club ladies!

New stamp and scrap site!

I'm very excited to share with you a new blog my friend Alex, of California Stampin, and her friend Melissa of Simply Pink are cookin' up!  It's a site for scrapbookers who stamp on their pages.  It combines these two wondeful hobbies that I love so much!  The site is called Scrap and Stamp Challenge site.They have a design team call right now.  You can go to their sites for more information and a chance to win blog candy too! 

Recipe Challenge#48

It's recipe challenge time!  This week's recipe challenge was to use the following:

-Red
-Round
-Ric rac

The circle scallop die folded in half to form a circle was a natural for this card.  I cut out Real Red cardstock with my circles plus circle cutter and the Rockabilly designer paper with the same size circle.  I then cut this circle in half and glued black ric rac across the middle.  The tart and tangy cherries in kiwi kiss and real red finishes it off.

It's been a tough week.  I had a friend pass away unexpectedly last Tuesday.  She was only 40 years old.  She left behind a husband and two sons ages 8 and 10.  It's another reminder to live each day to the fullest and to tell your loved ones how much you love them.  Life is short!
