If you have boys like me, chances are they are into video games. I have Nick who's 11 and Sam who's 9. They are really into video games, especially Mario games. Nick was bored last weekend and was talking to me in my craft room. He got a vision about making Luigi(Mario's side-kick). So we went to work making a punch art Luigi. He selected his colors and started building him and then I showed him my punches, die cuts, etc. that would help make Luigi. This is what our collaborative effort came up with.
Nick free hand cut the shape of the head. We used the Sizzix Oval scallop die cut for the hat brim and the Sizzix large circle for the hat. The bushy eyebrows are done by punching into black cardstock with the 1 3/4" circle punch and then punching over it with the wide oval punch. I trimmed and tweaked till we got the eyebrows to Nick's liking. The ears are the wide oval punch, the nose is the 1 3/8" circle punch, the eyes are the large oval punch and the small oval punch and white uniball gel pen for the glimmer in his eye. The mouth is the 1 1/4" circle punch cut in half and a strip of white for the teeth. I drew in the teeth but Nick said that was too realistic for a video character so we left that out. I free hand cut the mustache and did lots of sponging. He was impressed with how all of my crafting tools could make a character he loves. He's giving this to his little brother with his Christmas present because Sam loves Luigi. Maybe because his favorite color is green.
It's my husband, Doug's birthday today. Nick made him a card(during the same crafting session) that I will post tomorrow cuz I don't want to spoil the surprise!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a good one!
