Shrimp punch art

Earlier in June a few demonstrators in my dowline did a recipe class with me.  We got together on a Friday night and created 10 recipe cards for the class.  My friend Paula, really wanted to do a punch art shrimp.  Usually I case and tweak my punch art but I couldn't find anything out there for a shrimp.  Whoever said necessity is the mother of invention was surely right in this case!  I looked up a stamp of a shrimp and came up with this shrimp punch art.  Paula tweaked it slightly and this her recipe card.

Do you want to know how to make the shrimp?  Well I have a few photos for you to explain how I did it.  I tweaked the shrimp slightly once again to allow for use of current punches and colors.

Here are the punches and sizzlit you will need to make the shrimp:

Punch out a large oval punch in Regal Rose allowing for space around the punched out oval on your cardstock.

Go back in with your 1 3/4" circle punch and punch out your shrimp body moving it around so that the head is slightly larger than the tail.

Nest you will round off the two pointed edges with your scissors.

To make the spine of the shrimp punch out two 1/2" circles and one of the circles from the Itty bitty punch pack.  Overlap these on your shrimp body.

Run the Scribbles Sizzlit die through your Big Shot.  You will need to do a little surgery on the Scribbles. Just trim that body piece off.

Next punch one branch of the snowflake.

 
Attach the scribbles with a glue dot to the head, add some googly eyes and attach the snowflake branch for the tail and you are done!

Baby Swap

No, we are not swapping babies around here. Just cards.  I made this card with the new Baby Bundle stamp set for a swap I'm in for the preview Stampin' Up! stamp sets.  It is so fun to put together a menagarie of baby items on my cards with this set!  The brads on the wheels and baby carriage and the itty bitty heart button add the 3d look I so love!  The whole focal point image is popped up on stampin' dimensionals.  I go through these by the boatload!

Vintage Pitcher

I have really grown to love the vintage look.   But I struggle with creating vintage cards and other projects.  It's just not something that flows easily from me.  But I believe you become a better stamper by stretching beyond your comfort zone and trying something challenging.  So this card didn't come together easily.  I struggled a bit but am very pleased with the end result.

Recipes

I have a recipe club that meets once a month.  The hostess gives me 3 recipes and I create the recipe cards around her recipes.  I love the challenge of this.  Here are a couple of them from our June stamp club.

Sometimes the recipes are really long and that makes it a challenge to fit them on a 6 x 6 page. You have to get pretty creative with those recipes.  This next one wasn't particularly long but it has 4 layers so I borrowed an idea from Jesse and made a pocket with each layer placed in the pocket.
 

We are building a 6 x6 recipe book as we go in the club.  It's been great fun tasting the recipes, socializing and stamping!  i hope you enjoyed the recipe cards!

Bountiful Fruit

I've been playing with more of my sneak peek product.  For this card I used a new set called studio Sketches.  These elaborately detailed images make it so easy to make a beautiful card.  Just a little bit of coloring and you're done!  I stamped the image with Versamark on Very Vanilla and sprinkled black embossing powder over it.  This made the image really bold.  I colored in with my Stampin' Write markers and punched it out with the 1 3/4" circle punch.  I layered that on the new  2 3/8" scallop circle and popped it up on my card with stampin' dimensionals.

I used this stamp set to make one of the recipe cards for next month's recipe club too.  I'm sure I'l lbe using this one a lot!

I hope everyone had a great Father's day.  We went to church, out to lunch at Outback, and then went to get the boys' haircuts.  They both had tons cut off!  Nick, my 12 year old, changed his hair radically.  I hardly recognize him.  He was just beaming after his haircut - he just loves it!  Then we went to see my husband play a hockey game in the evening.  He looks pretty good out there on the ice!  Reliving the glory days.

A Great Day!

Friday was such a great day!  I took my boys to Toy Story 3 in the afternoon.  It lived up to the hype... such a good movie!  In the evening we went to see my daughter in her dance recital.  She was in ballet when she was 3 and 4 and not again until now - at 16.  So she was in beginner ballet.  The recital was so good!  Lots of modern music and great dancing!  Between the cute little ones in their fancy costumes and funny mishaps to the more mature and awesome dancers it was very entertaining! Here is Rebecca during her dance.

They did 3 performances over the weekend.  I think she's glad it's over to tell you the truth!  I told my boys they were lacking in the 10 and 12 year old boy dancers.  My 12 year old said he'd do it but my 10 year old wasn't so sure.  I thought it would be the other way around!

Among all of the running around with the kids this week I did get some time in my craft room.  Here's a baby card with the new stamp set, Baby Bundle.

There's tons of stamps in this set with the baby theme including 5 greetings.  I'll be using this set a lot!

Vintage Swap

I made this card for a swap I"m in.  I used a new set called Artistic Etchings.  This will be a new stamp set in the 2010/2011 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog.  Demontrators were able to pre-order it June 1.  I used the paper lace technique again .  I'm loving this!  The medallion is stamped in crumb cake ink on crumb cake cardstock and the "amour" is stamped in Chocolate Chip.  I traced the rim of the medallion with mono-multi glue and sprinkled chunky essentials clear glitter over it. I used the faux suede technique for the scallop circle punch.  I also used the new Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder with Baja Breeze cardstock.  After it was embossed I rubbed it with a sponge with chocolate chip ink.

Newlyweds

It's interesting that I have made a baby card and a wedding card in the past two days.  I don't ofen make either type of card.  This evolved into a wedding card when I put the hearts on there and selected the greeting.  I hadn't used this greeting stamp yet.  I love the script on this stamp from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  So fancy! 

I started out using a sketch from Stampin' Connection, a resource for Stampin' Up! demonstrators but ended up veering off the sketch by quite a bit.  That's ok because sketches are supposed to be a starting point.  My friend Denise, was showing a magazine she recently purchased on sketches.  I often pull out a sketch as a starting point for my cards.  It takes you in a direction you might not have gone in.

Baby boy

I finally got some time to play with my new Stampin' Up! goodies.  I used a new stamp set called, Baby Bundle.  It is a set of 16 filled with images and greetings.  This bear is so cute!  I'll be using this one a bunch!  I used a sketch from Mojo Monday blog.  I used lots of new products on this card including narrow vanilla taffeta ribbon, Greenhouse Gala designer paper, the new scallop circle punch and of course the new stamp set.  The new scallop punch works with the 1 3/4" circle punch.  I love having the bigger size to work with!  I also used gems that were leftover from the Easter egg kit from the Occasions mini catalog.  I LOVE that Stampin' Up! will be carrying rhinestones now!

Masculine Ship

I wanted to make a masculine card for a Stampin' Up! party I did at Cindy's house Wednesday night.  I grabbed my Beware of Pirates stamp set.  Oddly enough, this is one of the first stamp sets I purchased out of the catalog last year.  Perhaps because I have two tween boys and this definitely has a masculine feel to it.  I embossed the ship from this set on Confetti white cardstock with Versamarke and Winter White embossing powder.  I brayered More Mustand on the top part of the image and then brayered Not Quite Navy on the bottom. Then I went back over the whole thing with the More Mustard on the brayer.  the background is textured with the awesome square lattice embossing folder from Summer mini catalog.

This is my kid's first day of vacation. As of 11:30 I haven't laid eyes on my 16 year old daughter and my 10 and 12 year old boys have been getting along!  Yippee!  Usually we have a rough start to summer with them getting used to being around each other so much.  I hope this is a sign of things to come. 

I got my pre-order of Stampin' Up! goodies.  I plan to do some stamping this weekend and have some show and tell for ya!
