Another week flies by

This past week passed by in a blur of driving my kids places, soccer, playdates, and errands.  Sadly, not a lot of stamping for me.  :(  I did teach a kids stamping class on Tuesday.  There was an 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 year old girl at the class.  They made 5 birthday cards with matching stamped envelopes.  It was fun to see them get creative.  On one card I used the owl from the Fox and Friends stamp set.  One of the girls asked to use a different animal in the set, which opened up the door for all of the girls to choose a different animal.  They each ended up picking a different animal in the set.  Kinda funny.  There was a monkey, lion, whale, giraffe, and fox....everything but an owl.  And I thought owls were so in.  Not with this crowd. 

A lot of you have asked how my son, Nick's soccer team did in the state tournament.  They lost the first game 1-0.  It was a very good game.  The team they lost to went on to win state.  They played one more game which they tied 1-1.  The teams are pretty evenly matched when you get to this level. This weekend it's tryouts for next year's Summer competitive team.  They are moving up a level to C1.  I don't know what Nick will do if he doesn't make it.  I think he stands a good chance but there are more kids trying out this year too. 

My other big news is that my 16 year old daughter got her first job at Papa Murphy's!  We are so excited for her!  Both of her best friends just got a job so she especially wanted to get one.  It will be tricky juggling it with her tough class schedule in 11th grade but hopefully she'll manage it.

Birthday cups

I'm not a coffee or a tea drinker but this set, Morning Cup, is so cute I ordered it anyhow.  That's the power of cute stamps. It comes with some greetings related to caffeine consumption, etc. but I wanted something more practical, like a birthday, so I used a greeting from the On Your Birthday greetings stamp set. I used a sketch from SCS285.  I knew I wanted to use the color, Peach Parfait, so I consulted my color wheel for a combo using this color.  A good sketch and color combo and my card was practically done for me!

More Recipe cards

This is my latest batch of recipe cards.  I enjoy the challenge of creating the cards around the recipes.  The first one if for a taco dip.  I used colors that said taco dip to me including More Mustard, Early Espresso, and Cherry Cobbler.

Recipe: Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes

Ink:  Cherry Cobbler

Paper: Whisper White, More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Old Olive

Other: eyelet border punch, old olive wide grosgrain ribbon, little leaves sizzix embosslit, XL flower punch, 1 3/8" circle punch

Next up is the recipe card for Fruity Granola.  I used the new Studio Sketches for this one.  I stamped the image on Sahara Sand with Versamark and embossed with black embossing powder.  Then I colored the images in with Stampin' Write markers.

Ink:  Versamarke, Stampin' Write markers:  Pear Pizazz, More Mustard, So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand(for outlining around the fruit) 

Paper:  Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand

Other:  1 3/4" circle punch, 2 3/8" scallop circle punch, stampin' dimensionals, black embossing powder

The 3rd card uses punch art which so many of us love!  I embossed some Real Red cardstock with the dots embossing folder and then punched out the large and small oval punch to form the strawberries.  Lots of sponging helps with the punch art.

Recipe: Ink:  Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke, and Night of Navy for spongeing

Paper:  Crumb Cake, Old Olive dp, Basic Black, Whisper White, Old Olive, Real Red, Not Quite Navy

Other:  1/2" circle punch(for blueberries), stampin' sponges, small and large oval punches, 5 petal flower punch, boho blossom punch, white uniball gel pen, 5/8" wide black grosgrain ribbon, silver cord

For the Birds

This new Aviary stamp set is so cute and whimsical!  It really captured my attention when I saw it in the new catalog(a lot of things did that!).  This card was another of my Open House make-n-takes.  I used the owl stamp in this set but some of the ladies had a hard time with the idea of an owl in a cage so they used one of the bird stamps in this set.  Both looked cute!  To me, having the owl in the cage is all part of the whimsical nature of this set.

Crowning Glory

I held my annual New Catalog Open House last weekend.  I usually like to CASE my open house make-n-takes but I couldn't find anything that grabbed my eye and was simple enough to do at an Open House.  So I came up with my own.  This one was my 11th hour make-n-take.  I came up with it in the nick of time!  I think it could be used for a masculine card with the boldness and color scheme. You could always lose the scallops if that's not masculine enough for you.

Cupcake Bakery

I think the hostess selection of free stamp sets from Stampin' Up! are the best selection ever!  The new one called, Birthday Bakery, caught my eye right away!  I whipped up this quick card with this set.  The cakes are colored in with my Versamarker and ink pads.  I love the smooth coloring this method gives. Fun Flowers

I had the first day of my Open House today.  Lots of stampers came through today.  Thanks to those of you who came by. Whimsical Aviary

I'm getting ready for my Open House tomorrow and Monday.  I wanted to make a quick card with this new stamp set called Aviary.  This is the very first stamp set I wanted out of the catalog. I love the whimsy of all the different bird cages. That's a new embossing folder called Elegant LInes peeking out from the main image.  I used it on my owl punch card yesterday too.

Owl Circle Card

When did owls get so cute?  I know owls have been around for awhile but I was slow to warm up to them. I'm really warm now!  For this card I used a Monday Mojo sketch and lots of new Stampin' Up! product.  The owl is made with the new Stampin' Up! owl punch.  Isn't he cute?
