Orange Petals

Another card using the Build-a-Blossom stamp set and matching punch.  When I start using a stamp set I keep using it until I'm sick of it.  I'm the same way with a new favorite song.  I play it over and over when I first get it.  Does anyone else do that?

Anyhoo, the card uses Tangerine Tango ink and the dp from the Brights dp paper pack.  I embossed the Chocolate Chip cardstock with the tulips embossing folder and dabbed my white craft ink all around the border.

Flower Punch

I love it when Stampin' Up! teams stamp sets with coordinating punches!  I've been having fun with the create a cupcake stamp set and build a cupcake punch and now I've been playing with the Build a Blossom stamp set and punch.  Fun stuff.  Woot!

Ink: Pacific Point

Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight dp from Bold dp paper pad, Poppy Parade

Other: Build a Bloosom punch, Jumbo silver brad, 1" circle punch, scallop border punch, tulip frame embossing folder, stampin' dimensionals, poppy parade ribbon

It felt good to slip in a little stamping time last night.  We're running every night bringing the boys to their sports stuff.  It felt good to have a night off.  I got to watch Survivor too.  Love it!

Chicken Katsu

No, I didn't sneeze(katsu!).  That's the name of this dish.  This was one of the cards for my virtual recipe club this month.  I haven't had a chance to taste this yet but I am intrigued to try it. The punch art chicken was cased from another demo who cased it from Lynn Pratt. 

 
Punches used for chicken: 2 1/2" circle punch, large scallop circle punch, scallop circle punch, modern label punch, circles for the eyes from the owl punch, heart from heart to heart punch, beak is from the large star punch and head thing-a-ma-bobby is from the scallop oval punch.

We're still digging out from all of the snow we got hit with in Minnesota.  We Minnesotans are used to this by now.  It doesn't slow us down for long.  Someone asked me yesterday if UPS was going to be able to get to us with all of this snow we were having.  I assured them it's business as usual here.

Fantastic Fruit Salad

Yesterday was my Recipe club.  However, Minnesota was dumped with a boat load of snow and we had to cancel.  I decided to do a virtual recipe club instead so I made up all of the recipe cards for my club members and they are sending me their orders for the month.  I wanted to explore some different colors and have it be fruit oriented so that's where I came up with these colors.

 

Recipe: Stamps: Tart and Tangy

Ink; Tangerine Tango

Paper: Tangerine Tango, Poppy Parade, Old olive, Whisper white, Concord Crush

Other: Fun Flowers Sizzix die, 1 1/4" circle punch, Concord Crush ribbon. olive cordurouy fabric

I wanted to mix it up a little so I used some cordurouy fabric as part of the die cut flower. 

We're still accumulating snow here.  This Minnesota winter just wont end!

Regionals Projects

I had the pleasure of going to the Stampin' Up! Regionals in Minneapolis with my friend, Terri.  It was a very fun day!  The time just flew by.  I came away with lots of good ideas and some great inspiration!  I was needing that.  I didn't get all of my make-n-takes finished but I'll share with you what I did.  this first card is with the new stamp set we all received, Nature Walk.  This isn't a set I would normally buy for myself but it's full of vintage goodness and now I really like it!

 

The next is a banner that I'm not quite done with.  It took most of my make-n-take time at the Regionals.

 
 
 
This has so many subtle little touches I woulnd't have come up with on my own.

And in the afternoon, Stampin' Up! spoiled us with a treat.

Happy Valentines Day

Yesterday, my son Sam and I were working on his Valentine's box for his 5th grade class.  There is a contest for the most lovely, the most hearts, the most creative, and the funniest.  He was going for the most creative and the most hearts.  I had this green polka dot paper on hand and green is his favorite color so we covered the box with it.  Then he made up a character, healthy heart, and wanted to draw a picture of it to put on his box.  My crafty motors were turning and I told him we could make a punch art character out of Healthy Heart.  I started going to town on it and consulting him here and there, getting quite carried away.  Finally, I stopped myself and told him we didn't have to do a punch art of his character.  I think he was relieved and he said he wanted to draw it himself.  It is his Valentine's box after all!  So this is our combined effort of Sam's Valentine's box.

 

 
Once again, my crafty supplies came in handy for my kids' school projects! 

For Sam's Valentines for his classmates, we made these boxes with a Valentine's tag.

 
 

By the time we got to his teacher's Valentine's, Sam had lost interest and was watching Toy Story.  So I got to let my juices flow and go to town on her present.

 

I used the Fancy Favor Sizzix box, cut a hole in the front panel with my 1 3/4" circle punch, taped a window sheet over the hole and filled it with chocolate.  I love seeing the treat through the window!  I gathered the wide striped pink ribbon at the top by putting sticky strip around the perimeter and gathering it as I went.  The tag is from the Eat Chocolate stamp set.  I just changed the greeting by stamping it and punching it out with the word window punch and popping it up.

I love chocolate!

I wish I didn't so much but I do.  I LOVE chocolate!  I just had to have this, "Eat chocolate" set from the Occasions mini catalog.  I found a cute card from somewhere but I can't remember who I cased this from now.  We made this in our last stamp club.

 

Pink and brown and chocolate.  What could be better?!

I am going to the Stampin' Up! Regionals which is in Minneapolis tomorrow.  It's been so long since I have been to a Stampin' Up! event.  I'm so looking forward to all of the inspiration! I'll share the make-n-takes with you next week.

Bliss

I never used to be much of a vintage girl but the look has gotten so popular and the sets so wonderful that I have really come to love the look!  The Sale-a-bration stamp set, Bliss, is a vintage lovers dream!  I Cased this beautiful card from the wonderfully talented Mary Brown, aka stampercamper.

 
I love this color combo of Cajun Craze and Rich Razzleberry together!

We finished up working on my son Sam's Science Fair project tonight.  As much as you have your student do their own project, the parents end up being very busy and involved with it too.  My husband did the experiment and documentation with Sam and my part was making the board with Sam and making it look neat and presentable.  Crafting supplies really come to the rescue at a time like this!  I broke out my wonderful quality Stampin' Up! cardstock and Sizzix die cut letters to do the trick. It's a relief that it's over.  Until next year, when he has to do an engineering project.  He thinks like an engineer so hopefully that project will be easy for him!

Birthday Cards

I'm glad some of you can relate to the technical difficulties I was having in my last post.  It makes me feel better about my troubles with technology.  :) 

My daughter turned 17 this past Saturday.  I cased a card from Becky Roberts for her birthday card.

 

I tweaked my card ever so slightly.  We also made this in my stamp club this past week. The letters are from the Go Go boots Sizzix die.  The cupcake from the create a cupcake punch.  Isn't it cute? That Becky Roberts is one talented stamp artist!

My youngest had a birthday party this weekend to go to for his friend Matt.  I had this idea to spell  his name across some cupcakes.  I think kids love to see their name on cards.  I made this one with more boy friendly colors: Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip.

Technical difficulties

I try my best to stay up with technology.  I really do.  But it frustrates me sometimes.  I was trying to take a picture of some cards to post on my blog yesterday morning with our new camera.  I was getting frustrated because I couldn't see an image of my card, just black with the settings at the top.  I complained to my husband last night about it and he called me over to the camera.  Is this what you were seeing?  I said yes.  He said, "you left the lens cap on."  I have to give him credit for not making fun of me. 

I went lens cap free today and got some photos of some cards to share with you. These are the cards that were make-n-takes at my Open House this past Sunday.

 
This uses the new Sale-a-bration stamp set, "Punch Bunch". Pretty quick and easy.

 
I cased and tweaked a card by Tessa on Splitcoaststampers.This set is called So Happy For You.  This set was the run-away hit at my Open House!

This last card was inspired by Passion Flower on Splitcoaststampers.  I loved her color combo.
