New Catalog Open House!!!

Join me on Thursday, July 7  or Friday, July 8 for my New Catalogue Open House.  I will be giving away the new catalogue for FREE to anyone who has purchased $25 in the last year and who RSVP’s by Tuesday, July 5(regularly sells for $9.95).  For those who haven’t purchased $25 in the last year I will be selling catalogs for $5 with a $5 gift certificate towards a purchase in the 2011/2012 catalog.  These are my special open house prices.  I will also be selling my retired stamp sets and accessories, hand-stamped cards, and other goodies.  You can get a look at some new stamps, papers, and accessories.  I will have two make-n-takes, fabulous door prizes, light munchies, and signs up for classes and clubs!  There will be displays of cards and scrapbook pages.  Fun stuff!!!   You can order from this new catalogue at my open house.  You can see it online on my Stampin’ Up! website  in the online ordering section as of July 1, 2011 .

The highest form of flattery

I'm in a WOW card swap hosted by Virginia Johnson each time a new mini catalog comes out.  I receive such beautiful cards from some very talented stampers in this swap.  This card was made by Jessica Hill.

 

I loved this card so much I decided to CASE it for an upcoming Stampin' Up! party.  I simplified it a little bit and changed a few of the colors.  I kept the same basic layout though.

 

This uses one of my favorite stamp sets, Fabulous Florets.  If you don't have this set you'll want to order it!  It stamps so clean and crisp and the images are lovely!  You can order it on my Stampin' Up! website here or contact your local demonstrator.

We are finally getting some Summer this week in Minnesota.  Last weekend was supposed to be 80's and sunny but ended up to be cloudy, rainy and chilly during my son's soccer tournament.  So what else is new?!  We have spent the majority of the season in coats and wrapped in blankets.  Kind of crazy!

Playing with new In Colors

I always enjoy introducing new colors into the color palette in my stamping. This year's in colors have added a great new array of colors!  In this card I combined a new in color, sky blue, and peach parfait, a carryover in color from last year.  Anchor it with Early Espresso and you have a lovely color combination.

 

We finally have a nice Summer weekend!  My son's soccer tournament is this weekend so it's a good thing.  We finally don't have to bundle up in coats and blankets while watching him play.

Monochromatic stamping

I was trying to go for the elegance of monochromatic or tone on tone stamping with this card. Some achieve this effortlessly.  Me, not so much.  I used lots of punches and textures on this card.

 

I'm going to the Stampin' Up! convention in July.  I have to get busy on my swap cards.  I haven't even started.  Time is getting away from me. I need the inspiration fairy to come visit me.  If you have seen her can you send her my way?

We are in the thick of soccer season now.  My son Nick, has a game tnnight, practice tomorrow night, a tournament Friday, Saturday, Sunday, game Monday, practice Tuesday, game Wednesday, practice Thursday.  Even he might be a little tired of soccer after that!

Easy stampin'

I love a good sketch.  I used this one from Mojo Monday a couple of weeks back.  A good sketch,new designer paper, new stamps and this card practically made itself! I used the new stamp set, Delicate Doilies, and the new dp Flirtatious Specialty designer paper. 

 

I'm off to my home town tonight, Austin, MN to attend a banquet for my sister, Therese.  She is being inducted into the Pacelli Hall of Fame(our high school) for her athletic achievements while she was there.  Most of my brothers and sisters will be there. She doesn't know so many of us are going.  It will be fun to surprise her!

Teacher gift

I always like giving a gift card in a cute and clever and unique kind of way.  I ran across this idea somewhere and knew I wanted to try this out for my son's end of year teacher's gift.  This would make a great way to present a gift card for a birthday, graduation, Mother's day, etc.

 

I die cut some flowers with my Fun Flowers Sizzix die from Stampin' Up! Then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.  I placed Stampin' Dimensionals between the layers and glued the flowers to a popsicle stick with mono multi glue.  The leaves were made from the oval punch and the paper crimper.  Behind the middle flower I glued a mini clothespin and that's what the gift card is being held with. The metal tin is from Ikea and I glued one of the brights buttons do the front.

I'll be using this idea again for sure!

Spirograph

Playing with more new stuff.  The stamp set i used this time is called Delicate Doilies. I layered some of the different stamps on top of each other to get my Medallion.  It kind of has the look of Spirograph that I used to play with as a kid.

 

Recipe: Stamps: Delicated Doilies, Teeny Tiny Wishes(greetig)

Ink: Lucky LImeade, Daffodil Delight, Calpyso Coral, and the new turquoise(I'm still learning the new In Color names!)

Paper: Crumb Cake, whisper White, Lucky Limeade, New Turquoise, Calypso Coral, basic Black, Brights dp

Other:  Punch pack, 1 3/4" circle punch, 2 3/8" circle punch, 3" Sizzix cirlce, Sizzix#2 scallop, white taffeta ribbon, brads, stampin' dimensionals, tiny tag punch, linen thread

New Stuff!!!

I was having some fun in my stamp room last night!  I was playing with some of my new toys from the Sneak Peek items I was able to purchase as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  That's one of the perks that I love - we get to buy stuff early!

I used all kinds of new stuff on this card!  There's the new Pennant Parade stamp set.  I used the coordinating Petite Pennants PUnch(say that 10 times fast!). It makes creating pennants on your cards, scrapbook pages, etc easy peasy! The designer paper is the new Just Add Cake designer paper.  I used 2 new In Colors. Calypso Coral and Pool Party.  But my favorite is the new lace border punch peeking out from the sides of the dp.  Love it!

 
This is my kid's last week of school.  I made a really cute Teacher's gift for my son,Sam's teacher that I will share with you in a day or two. I wish I could spend all day in my stamp room today but there's this pesky thing called work that is pulling me away.

Polka Dot Scrappin' Cards

I held a class last Thursday for 30 cards out of the Polka Dot Simply Scrappin' kit from the Summer Mini.  We used 1/2 kit to make 30 cards.  There were 8 ladies here so 240 cards got made that night!  Here are a couple of the cards they made.

 

I love the colors in this kit!  So fun and bright!

I got some of my new catalog goodies on Friday!  I have been just playing around with some of the new toys so far.  I'm hoping to have something I created with those new goodies soon.

Once Upon a Barn sale, the Sequel

We've packed our vintage suitcases and they're filled with tablecloths and other linens you'll want to take home.

 

And that's just the beginning of what you'll find at Once Upon a Barn.

 

You may have just visited us at the soggy little barn at 310 Wayside Road W., but we're back in an actual barn June 2-4 at the MusicBarn, located at 5750 Shady Oak Road in Minnetonka.

If you stopped by the sale on Shady Oak last year, you know this is a great place for a sale because of the building — a two-story barn that has some fun nooks and crannies — and because of the history. This is the old Dvorak Homestead, where sisters Gladys and Olga Dvorak lived out their lives. The barn has been cleaned out and filled with pottery, kitchenalia, pulleys, scales, garden pieces, tools, furniture, and repurposed items. We've got enamelware and sewing paraphernalia including lots of buttons and thread, Stampin' Up! stamps, and hand-stamped cards.. There are shoe forms and benches, glassware and games and even a hobby horse or two.

 

So check us out. And maybe the rain will give us a break this time.
