Sweet Swap!

It was another beautiful weekend in Minnesota!  This is the weather we've been dreaming about.  We were thinking about going to the State Fair but my husband wasn't into it.  I can't imagine how busy it must have been this weekend with the gorgeous weather.

I finished up my swaps this weekend.  I used the adorable Sweet Treats stamp set, some irridescent ice and some clear embossing powder.  I wanted the candy to look even more like real candy.

Beautiful buttons

I have been working on some Wow card swaps that i will share with you soon.  In the meantime, I have another card with the Button Buddies stamp set!

The flower in this set can also be used with the small circle scallop punch.  I love how versatile Stampin' Up! makes their stamp sets and punches!

 

The designer paper is scored and a piece of sticky strip is run along the entire back of it to hold the pleats.

Are your kiddos back to school yet?  We have orientation for my 8th grader tonight.  We get to drop off the school supplies, get his picture taken, pick up his schedule and such.  My 6th grader and senior go next week.  I can't believe how fast August is going!

Barber Beauty

There is a fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Karen Barber, who is a true artist with her stamping creations. She came up with this technique for coloring images.  Her creations are always so bold and beautiful.  You start out coloring with your lightest color of ink on the petals, then come in with your dark color of ink.  Lastly you put dots of white gel pen on the tip of the flowers to make them pop.

This was a tweak of a card by Karen and the final card for my party hostesses and my hostess appreciation party last Friday.

 

I'm starting off today with a walk with my sister.  Then we will be working some more on my mom's 80th birthday scrapbook.  I will do a little more stamping and then finish up the day by going out on a date with my husband.  Now that's a good day!

Cover Case

When I first laid eyes on the new Stampin' Up! catalog that came out July 1 I fell in love with everything on the cover!  For this next project I based this card off of one of the cards on the cover. I had to give it my own twist of course!

This was card 2 at my party hostesses event. Lots of texture on this one. 

The work week is almost done.  Yippee!  This one has been a tough one to get through.  I'm having extreme insomnia.  Ugh!  Zaps my energy, brain power, and creativity.  Not good.  I'm hoping to get rested up this weekend and get some creative juices flowing.  I will be working on a scrapbook for my mom's 80th birthday party in September.  This has been a fun project to work on!

The cupcake case

Or is it the case of the cupcake?  No matter.  This card was cased from someone who cased it from someone else, who knows where it originated?  I put my own little spin on it with the sneak peek silver glimmer paper.  It makes for some blingy cupcake frosting tops!

This is a stair step card.  You can find directions for it on SCS.  It's really easy with the new stampin' score tool by Stampin' Up!  This handy tool will be available Sept.1.  I can't wait for you to get your hands on it.

We had a lot of fun at my hostess appreciation event on Friday night.  It was an event I held for all of my party hostesses over the past couple of years.  I had fun spoiling them with special projects, prizes, goodies, and treats.  I'll post the other projects we made soon.

Button Pig

I have been having some computer issues.  Don't you hate those?  It's kind of like a car.  You take them for granted when everything is running fine, but what a pain when they are not working properly.  We have become so reliant on them.  My kids are going crazy about it too.  We all are a little computer crazy. 

I do have some projects to share.  Today I'll show you one from the Button Buddies stamp set.  You gotta love this pig, right?  This stamp set is so unique.  Each stamp can stand alone but what fun when you step it up with a button! Each one has a spot to add a button embellishment. I'll be having a class on this in September.  Stay tuned for details.

Apple delight

One of the things I have wanted to try out with my Sizzix Tasteful Trim die is die cutting the pieces with felt.  I love the look and feel and dimension felt gives on cards, scrapbook pages and other projects.  So this is a pretty simple card trying out a few new products.

I started working on an 80th birthday scrapbook album for my mom's birthday in September.  I'm safe posting this here because my mom doesn't read my blog.  She's not very internet savvy if you know what I mean!  Anyhow, we collected memories from all 9 of my siblings and a couple of my mom's siblings as well.  We are weaving these memories throughout the scrapbook along with some appropriate photos.  It has brought back some great memories and even some new memories I didn't even know about!  It's a labor of love and a fun project to boot!

It's August already!  Can you believe how fast the Summer is flying by?  I started a little back to school shopping for the kids which kinda bums them out.  My son Nick already had soccer tryouts for his next year's competitive team.  He has tryouts for the school team in two weeks.  All signs of the impending fall season. 

We finally got my daughter's Senior pictures scheduled.  Now we really need to get some college visits planned.  Where does the time go?
