Wonderful Circles

This is one of the cards we made in my October stamp club and September parties.  It is a case from someone but I can't remember who.  The circles are from the stamp set Circle Circus.  They are inked in Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple and Soft Sky and punched out with the 1 3/4" circle punch.  Crumb cake and Whisper white cardstock anchors these bright colors.  The 3 little flowers from the trio punch pack in the same colors give it that little something extra it needs.  I put rhinestones in the middle of the flowers.

We've been a bunch of sickies this fall with lots of trips to the doctor's office.  My son Nick has strep throat, Sam had a little accident with his finger this week and I even took a turn being sick with a bout of flu.  I'm usually the one who stays healthy.  Not to mention the major accident my husband had in August.  We still need to pick up some pumpkins and carve them before Halloween. It's going to be a busy week!

Spider in a jar

Halloween is coming, did you know that?! My youngest is beyond excited!  We have been gathering materials for his costume for a month.  We finally sat down and put it together this past weekend.  The only thing he has left to do it finish his shield.  Here he is:

He's Link from Zelda!  I have been telling him for a couple of years that he would make a great Link. He took it and ran with it this year.  He did some research online on how to make the costume and we pooled together our creativity to come up with this.  We purchased a men's V-neck shirt as a pattern for the tunic.  We bought some green felt to make the tunic and the hat.  The hat is basically shaped like a Santa hat.  We bought some brown dress shoes, brown gloves and brown tights at the thrift store. We had the brown felt parts from another costume on his legs to make the shoes look like boots. We bought some girls white tights at Target.  He is embarassed about that part but it's for a good cause!  We sewed some of the brown tights to the brown gloves and he cut the fingers off of the gloves.  Link wears long brown gloves with cut off fingers so that worked.  We scrounged up a brown belt and another belt to hold his sword from the dress up box.  He bought the sword himself online.  He got it for like $20.  He is totally thrilled with his costume!  He says it's the best costume ever!  What more could a mom want to hear? 

Next up is a card we made at my last stamp club.  It is a spider in jar.  I couldn't resist using the jar once again.  The middle zigzag piece is from the Tasteful Trim bigshot die.

Kelly's snowflake and Clearance Rack deals!

I saw a similiar card to this on Pinterest.  We made this in stamp club this month.  You mask off with post its a 1 inch wide strip of very vanilla cardstock and sponge ink(I used More Mustard) on to this section.  Remove the post it and you are left with a strip of color.  I used this as my focal point and overlapped the stamped images over it.  It makes for a quick and easy card.  Especially great for masculine cards where you are not wanting to do all of the frills.

I had a great weekend!  My husband and I went to see Argo on Friday.  It's about the hostage crisis in Iran during the late 70's.  It's about the rescue of 6 of the hostages.  It's a very compelling story. 

My daughter is home from college for a long weekend so I got to spend some time with her on Saturday. Then on Sunday we went Outlet shopping.  Why is spending money on her so much fun?  I had to remind her that she is a poor college student and that she shouldn't be spending money like she has it.  She's not making any money right now so it has to last her throughout the year.

Feeling Witchy

It has been awhile since I have blogged.  Things are starting to get back to normal around here since my husband's accident. He is still recovering but he is walking with one crutch, an ankle brace and he's driving! That's great progress!  I was grumbling yesterday that I'm in a houseful of boys but I had to lug the heavy water softener salt in and fill the water softner.  Things aren't quite back to normal yet. 

I have a card to share that we made in stamp club in September.  I used the Googlie Ghouls stamp set once again and the Scaringbone Howlstooth designer paper.  What a great combo!

Kinda busy but I like it! Top it off with the adhesive backed googlies that come in the Holiday catalog and you are good to go!

I haven't got my Halloween decorations up yet.  This is late for me.  Nick has been after me to get them up.  Hopefully this week.
