Happy for Hexagons

The weather put a wrench in my Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration Open House yesterday.  I had lots of people cancel because of the rain mixed with snow combination we had going here on Sunday.  I can't say I blame them.  You can't predict the weather in January in Minnesota(or really at any time of year). Some folks did stop by though and it was great to see some faces I haven't seen in awhile and catch up!

One of the make-n-takes we made was this one.

 I CASEd this card from Mindy Backes. I simplified it by doing a stamped flower rather than the paper flower. I love how she stamped inside the hexagon shape with the little stamps in this set.  Perfecto!

Baby Bundle

Today I am sharing with you a punch art card we made in stamp club this month.  I stumbled across this baby bundle punch art sometime ago but am just getting around to using it on a card.  The addition of the tickets from the That's the Ticket stamp set adds just the right touch if you ask me. *wink*

One of the things I used to LOVE to do a lot more is make healthy yummy home-made meals for my family. Since going back to work full-time a few years ago I have less time and energy to do so.  With the start of the new year I want to dedicate myself to making more time for making these meals again. One of my favorite places to get new recipes is Pinterest.  Do you love Pinterest as much as I do?! I bet you do!  Here are a couple I made this weekend.

This recipe for Beef Tips was yummy.  It was easy too but it takes a long time.  Perfect for a weekend day at home.  I could smell this cooking all afternoon.  Yum!  Here is a link to it on Pinterest.

To go with it I made this bread. 

Doesn't it look delicious?  Well, it was!  And how!  Again, an easy no knead recipe that just takes about 3 hours with the rising times.  Here is the link to the recipe on Pinterest.

Rows of Tickets

This is the card I created that used the tickets in a different way.  I made rows of tickets!  I overlapped slightly 6 tickets across and sewed across the top of them to secure them.  I then fanned them out a little bit.  I topped them with ribbon and a layered flower.

Valentine tickets

This is my second swap card for a WOW card swap I'm in.  I love this ticket stamp set called, "That's the Ticket".  It's in the new Occasions catalog. I have a fun way I used on another card I will show you this week.

My son is doing a unit in Science on genes - recessive genes and dominant genes.  He had to interview members of our family and see how similiar we are.  Apparently he has a lot of recessive genes. Hah!

Thinking of You

Balance.  That is something I'm not particularly good at both physically and as a life skill.  Physically, I have a condition with my feet that doesn't allow me to do sports that require good balance.  My sons start ski club tonight.  They both have good physical balance and enjoy it thoroughly.  I tried skiing once and it was a disaster.  I coudn't get on the T bar and when I managed to grab the towrope my equipment fell off.  Getting down the hill was less than pleasant. 

As for life balance I often feel like I am flying by the seat of my pants.  If I made New Year's resolutions this would be a good one for me.  Try to achieve more life balance.  It's hard to fit everything in in life in such a way where one area of your life isn't overtaking another. Since going back to work full-time my stamping life has suffered.  When I have time to stamp I may not have the energy or creative juices to create.  I bet you can relate.  What I am going to try to do is fit stamping in more often.  I may not stamp for as long as I want but if I fit it in on a more regular basis I will be more satisfied and improve my skills. Stamping is like a muscle.  You need to do it on a regular basis and it will flow easier.  If you only do it once in awhile it will take you awhile to get creative and it will probably be overwhelming to start.

I have stamp club tonight.  I made and discarded a couple of versions of cards for my club members to make tonight.  This is one I created for a card swap I am in.  I was going to have the members make this one but I ran out of couple of key supplies.  Time to order more! Good thing I know a good demonstrator. *wink*

The Thinking of You friend stamp is a single stamp in the new Occasions catalog.  I inked it up once in Tangerine Tango and once in Island Indigo.  I punched it out with the 2 1/2" circle punch on the Island Indigo piece and die cut the Tangerine Tango piece with the labels framelit set.  The flowers going across the bottom panel is the beautiful ivory flower trim in the Occasions catalog.  The designer paper is a sneak peek at some Sale-a-bration paper you can earn for free.  It's called Sycamore Street.   It's gorgeous! The pattern peeking out behind this is the honeycomb embossing folder.  You will be seeing tons more of this one!

Thanks a ton!

Whew!  I'm back finally.  We hosted Christmas Eve, Christmas day and a New Year's Eve party and then I went on a trip to Vegas to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday.  We had a great time!  We got to see Celine Dion, walked up and down the strip, went in and out of almost all of the casinos, saw the light show at the Mirage, the pirate show at Treasure Island, did some shopping, some eating, and oh yeah, some gambling!  It was our first trip to Vegas but probably not the last.

I took Monday off of work to catch up on things.  I am so grateful to have this extra day.  I finished up some swaps for a swap I'm in.  I made this card when playing with my new stuff from the new Occasions catalog.

Lots of new stuff on this one!
