Halloween treat boxes

These treat boxes made with the Curvy Keepsake box are the easiest box ever!  It is a framelit and you die cut 2 pieces, assemble and wa la!  Easy peasy!  You should see some of the adorable things people have done with these boxes!  Here is a link to the Curvy Keepsake box on Pinterest.  Adorable, right?  As of today this box is on backorder with Stampin' Up! but I can tell you that it is totally worth the wait!!!

It is still warm enough in Austin Texas to use our pool.  It has been gorgeous, in the 80's, sunny and low humidity.  In fact, we are having a little pool party tomorrow with another family for some swimming, grilling out and I'm going to let the kids make some Halloween treat boxes for their teachers with this die.  Fun stuff!

Owl card redo

In my continuing quest to go through my stacks of cards and redo some of them with current Stampin' Up! product I ran across this owl card.

The owl punch makes this a pretty easy card and you just add a few more punches for the witch hat.  The oval punch had retired, as well as the ribbon, embossing folder and few other things.  Here is my new version of this card:

 

 I used the large oval punch for the witch hat along with the sweetheart punch.  I cut the sweetheart punch down the middle angling it for the hat. Here is the rest of the products used in this card:

We had guests this weekend.  My daughter, Rebecca, and her boyfriend, Jake, came to stay with us for 5 days.  I don't like to call my daughter a guest but she lives in Minnesota still after we moved to Texas.  She is in her junior year at college.  We had a great time with them!

We did a little of this:

 

Did some exploring of downtown Austin including the Capitol and the surrounding grounds.

And HOPE Outdoor Gallery at Castle Hill or better known as Graffiti Park.  This place is a 3 story wonderland for artists to express them selves with spraypaint. The thing is it will look different everytime you go. Here is a picture of my daughter, Becca and I on Labor Day weekend at the park. The second picture is at the same spot a month and half later.

 

 

 

We went to lots of good restaurants-Austin is known for it's great food.  It was sad to see them go.

Visitors are coming!

My daughter, Rebecca, and her boyfriend, Jake, are coming to visit us for 5 days today!  This is hanging in our main floor bathroom to welcome them.  I am a little excited!  We have lots of fun things planned for the whole family to do with them.  I'm sure I will be posting about that later.

I have a card to share with you today that I made for my friend, Paula.  Paula had knee surgery in September and it has been a long sloooooow recovery.  She is not one to sit still so it has been especially hard on her.  I have been wanting to make a card with this cute Koala image for awhile and this was just the occasion.

Butterfly card

I attended a class last month with new stamping friends Melanie and Adele.  Here is a butterfly card we made at the class:

Great fall color combination!

The kids are settling more into life in Texas.  The people we bought our house from were in town this weekend and stopped by.  They were staying at one of the neighbor's houses.  The daughters still live here with their dad.  The neighbor had an impromptu get together and we stopped over.  Nick even came out with his longboard.  He ended up talking to the previous' owners' daughter who is a senior at his school and who also has a longboard.  A longboard, in case you don't know, is like a skateboard but built for covering distance rather than doing tricks.  They went out longboarding together and talked for awhile.  I think Nick has made a new friend.

Sam wouldn't come out and visit with the neighbors.  Grrr!  But he did get invited to hang out with a new friend from school this Friday. Yeah!  He also has talked about joining the photo shop club.  I have been after him to join something.  He loves his digital media class and his teacher invited him to join the club.  Hopefully he will do that soon.

The weather is getting really nice here in Texas.  It has cooled down from Summer time temps.  80's and sunny with lower humidity is the norm right now.  I'm loving it!

It's a beautiful day in Austin, Texas today!  Sunny and 70's.  We are having a lazy day in the Hopperstad household.  Last night my husband and I went to dinner and then to the movie, Gone Girl. I read the book previously.  I thought they did a good job on the movie.  My husband liked it too!
