Birthdays are celebrated much differently now during the Covid-19 crisis. But we still want to show loved ones we care. My sister, Therese, had a birthday last Saturday. She lives about 40 minutes from me. I hopped in the car to bring her a gift, some home-made fudge and this card. She is a gardener, a decorator, an antique and vintage and birdhouse collector. She used to make beautiful watercolor paintings. That made me think of the Bird Ballad Suite. I stamped the birds on Stampin' Up!'s fluid watercolor paper and colored the birds in with the aquapainter and ink from ink pads. The bird base is the beautiful laser-cut cards that come in a beautiful tin with envelopes. I strategically added adhesive to adhere the front image to the card with a glue dot and the fine-tip glue pen. I let the glue dry with the card open so it wouldn't glue shut. It seems to have worked out.
I placed her presents in a box which she later moved to their breezeway to "air" out. Don't want to catch any potential virus germs. It felt weird not to embrace and to stand far apart. But these are different times we are living in.
My niece's 18th birthday was last Sunday. We participated in a drive by honking the horn parade of cars birthday. That seems to be a popular way to celebrate right now.
How have you celebrated birthdays during this "shelter in place" time?
