My husband is a DIY'er. He doesn't like to hire out for projects he can do himself and he seems to be able to do most projects. We are tackling a stone patio with a half wall and stone steps in our backyard. We had 7 pallets of stone delivered to build steps leading out from our back door and to build a half wall for our patio. We still are waiting for stone to be delivered for the patio itself. We spent Thursday night hauling 5 of the pallets to the backyard. The largest stones were 50 and 57 pounds each. My husband and I moved 2 pallets of the heaviest stones ourselves. Then my son, Nick and his girlfriend, Alisha, showed up and they helped us move 3 more pallets of some of the smaller stones to the backyard. It's incredible how much stone this project will take. My husband is doing most of the work and he has been working all weekend on it. This weekend he is completing the stone steps. You wouldn't think that is a whole weekend project but it was. He does a lot of research and math and does everything right. He dug down something like 7 inches and put sand and rock below the stone so we start with a very level and sturdy surface. It's turning out great as most things he tackles does.
Do you have stamp sets that you are drawn to you as soon as you see them? Zany Zebras was one of those sets for me. The Zebra is just so cute and happy looking! I took this set for it's first spin this weekend. I had visions of a red, black and white card. I didn't have any current designer series paper that would work with this color scheme so I made my own. I used the Beauty Abounds stamp set to stamp the circles background. It really isn't necessary to color the images in this stamp set but I did add a little shading with my Smoky Slate stampin' blends and blushed the cheeks with the Petal Pink stampin' blends. The rest of it came together pretty easily from there.
