Pretty Purple Pansy

I had a quick play with some new product from the upcoming Stampin' Up! catalog.  This pansy suite is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!  I didn't even delve into the dies that are in the suite yet.  There are unlimited possibilities with this suite.  I wanted to whip up a quick card with this stamp set so this is what I came up with.  This is a go to card layout for me.  Simple and cute.

The painted texture embossing folder isn't new to this catalog but its new to me.  I just love how it really looks like textured paint! I need to make some mother's day cards with this suite.  I've mentioned before that purple is a color I associate with my mom.  I will be making a purple card for her with this set.  

Speaking of my mom, I went to visit her this past week. I have 9 brothers and sisters.  My mom lives in the house we grew up in.  It's really small but somehow we made it work.  What choice did we have, really?  She is 89 years old and has macular degeneration so she can't see well.  We are all pitching in and cleaning a room in her house when we visit her.  I opted to clean her bathroom/laundry room.  I used a lot of elbow grease and replaced some bathroom rugs and such.  As we were sitting and visiting later she said to me, "It was a lot of work raising 10 kids, but it sure is paying off now!"  I love it!

Misty Zebra

Are you sick of zebra cards yet?  I hope not because I have a few more to share with you.  I had a fun stamping session in my craft room a few nights ago and created some simple cards with the Zany Zebras stamp set.  The patterned paper comes from the A Flower For Every Season 6 x 6 designer series paper pack.  Even though there are various patterns, they coordinate.  The trick to pattern mixing is to pair a small pattern with a larger pattern.  You see that at play here with the larger floral background with the misty moonlight dots strip of dsp. 

Pattern mixing not only works in paper crafting but also in fashion. Have you tried it?  I usually go for a larger floral pattern paired with stripes or small dots.  Give it a whirl!

Green Striped Zebra

The Forever Ferns designer series paper is an unlikely choice to use with the Zany Zebras stamp set but I think it works!  The watercolor striped strokes in the paper with various greens gave me the birthday boy card I wanted to achieve.  Sometimes slicing off a part of the front of the card and letting a little bit of the inside of the card to peek through is a great twist to a traditional layout.  Simple but effective.  

I love the sentiment with this image.  And don't we all deserve to kick up our heels?  I'm ready for it! All supplies are listed below and can be ordered on my website.

I have a few more Zany Zebra cards to post and then I'll switch gears to another stamp set.  I have new product from the upcoming annual catalog(comes out in May)that has arrived at my door.  I will be creating with that product soon but I still have so many retiring products to say goodbye to as well. Sweet purple Zebra

The Zany Zebras stamp set is one of the first ones I was drawn to when the 2020/2021 Stampin' Up! annual catalog came out.  Such a fun and happy looking set!  I wanted to make a girl's birthday card with it.  My daughter's favorite color since she was a little girl is purple.  I based my colors off of her fave color.  Isn't that floral embossed background so delicate and beautiful?  It's the ornate floral 3D embossing folder. I thought it was just the right backdrop for this card. 

Now my daughter is expecting a daughter of her own.  I wonder what my granddaughter's favorite color will be? Here is the card I created based on a simple card I had saved on my Pinterest boards.

The purple in this card is Highland Heather.  I don't know why I haven't reached for this color more.  I really love it!  There is not much coloring involved in this stamped image so a pop of color underneath is just what it needs.  Many products in this card are retiring at the end of April or sooner(while supplies last only).  The products retiring are the Zany Zebras stamp set, Stitched Shapes framelit dies, Flowers for Every Season 6 x 6 designer series paper, and frosted and clear epoxy droplets.  You can order these products and more on my website.

Birthday Boy Zebra

I set out to make a stack of birthday boy and birthday girl cards with the Zany Zebra stamp set.  This is the first card I made in this stamp session.  I wanted to make simple cards based on some cards saved to my Pinterest boards.  This one came together very quickly.

There are several retiring products used to make this card including the stamp set, Zany Zebras, Stitched Shapes framelits, the frosted and clear epoxy droplets, and the tin tile embossing folder.  These products will retire at the end of April or while supplies last.  To order these products you can go to my website.

Pink Zany Zebra

I've been in a bit of a funk.  I haven't been sleeping well and life was just getting to me.  I was having a hard time finding my creative side.  I didn't make a card in weeks.  Here's how I pulled myself out of the funk and started creating again.

When creative juices aren't flowing I often tell people to go on Pinterest, go to the Stampin' Up! catalog or somewhere else and copy a project you find there.  That will often inspire you to tweak a little something and may lead to more tweaking until you are creating again.  I took a little bit of a different approach this time. I had stamped a bunch of images from the stamp set Zany Zebras. I wanted to create birthday cards for boys and for girls with these images. I had some cards I liked saved on Pinterest.  I took the overall layouts of the cards and used them as my jumping off point.  I created 6 cards in one night.  The juices were flowing!  Yay! Below is one of those cards.
