Halloween Paper Pumpkin!

This past weekend I got together with my daughter, Rebecca, to make these fun Halloween Treat containers!  Where did they come from you ask?  They are from the September Paper Pumpkin kit!  The kit came with all of the supplies to make 24 treat containers.  Rebecca is a 3rd grade teacher and has 24 students in her class so this worked out great! A couple of tips for this kit: 1)We didn't put the little rectangle cardboard pieces in the bottom of the bag.  We didn't really need the bags to stand up on their own so we omitted them. 2)We had better luck stapling the goodie bags shut rather than just adhering them with glue dots.

3) We taped the labels on over the bags rather than adhere them with glue dots.

 

If you do the bags this way you will end up with a bunch of leftover glue dots.  This is no problem because you can use them on other projects.  Glue dots on one of my favorite ways to adhere embellishments!

At the end of this project you will have the Halloween stamp set and gray ink spot still to use.  You can use it to make Halloween cards, more treat containers or scrapbook pages.  Such a great value!

Halloween Elephant

This cute guy comes from a set in the Holiday catalog called Trick or Tweet. I made this card for a card swap I was in recently with other demonstrators.  The elephant is stamped on the inside of the card and the green frame is a window. I colored him with my stampin' blends.  My favorite way to color!

Cats and Pumpkins

It's October 6 already so it's high time I shared a Halloween card with you.  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  I love the colors, the decorations and the whimsy of it all!  I have my house all decorated for Halloween.  It is always fun re-discovering the Halloween treasures I have collected over the years.

Owl card redo

In my continuing quest to go through my stacks of cards and redo some of them with current Stampin' Up! product I ran across this owl card.

The owl punch makes this a pretty easy card and you just add a few more punches for the witch hat.  The oval punch had retired, as well as the ribbon, embossing folder and few other things.  Here is my new version of this card:

 

 I used the large oval punch for the witch hat along with the sweetheart punch.  I cut the sweetheart punch down the middle angling it for the hat. Here is the rest of the products used in this card:

We had guests this weekend.  My daughter, Rebecca, and her boyfriend, Jake, came to stay with us for 5 days.  I don't like to call my daughter a guest but she lives in Minnesota still after we moved to Texas.  She is in her junior year at college.  We had a great time with them!

We did a little of this:

 

Did some exploring of downtown Austin including the Capitol and the surrounding grounds.

And HOPE Outdoor Gallery at Castle Hill or better known as Graffiti Park.  This place is a 3 story wonderland for artists to express them selves with spraypaint. The thing is it will look different everytime you go. Here is a picture of my daughter, Becca and I on Labor Day weekend at the park. The second picture is at the same spot a month and half later.

 

 

 

We went to lots of good restaurants-Austin is known for it's great food.  It was sad to see them go.

Halloween Redo

This is the first of my Makeover Monday cards where I take a card from my sample pile and update it with current product and perhaps a tweak to the design.  This card is a clever Halloween card my friend Kristina made years ago.  I love how the inside opens up to the circle windows and popped up images and the bottom two circles are on the main base of the card.

Here is the updated card using the Freaky Friends stamp set from the current Holiday catalog and that fun ribbon!  I also tweaked the design and simplified it.

Halloween Characters

I got a call from the school today telling me Sam needs another immunization before he can start school next week.  I dreaded telling him because he is not too crazy about needles.  He had one immunization in July and I thought we were all up to date.  But there has been a Whooping Cough epidemic at his school so he has to get vaccinated for it.  Nick already got that immunization combined with the Tetanus shot he got.  Sam didn't need the Tetanus shot(or so we thought!).  Hopefully they will get us in this week so he can start school next week.

We found out that there is a Krispy Kreme doughnuts not too far away from us.  Sam has never had them but he has heard enough about them that he is excited to try them.  A trip to Krispy Kreme is on the agenda for this week.  We lead a pretty exciting life!

Halloween card

I'm still settling in to my new house.  My temporary craft room is less than ideal but at least I have a place to create in.  I don't have everything organized and haven't found everything yet.  I was looking for bling last night and could not find my rhinestones.  Wah!  Oh well, one step at a time.  The disorganization is messing with my mojo.  I haven't felt creative.  Just to prove to you that not everything goes as planned I'm going to show you a card I am less than proud of.

Not my best work.  I do love this new Halloween stamp set which is a sneak peek of something coming in the upcoming Holiday catalog.  I just had problems with this card.  I sent it to my downline Kelly.  Most importantly it was holding a check for my half of the hotel room we stayed at during convention.

Not everything goes to plan when creating papercrafts.  Sometimes we have to get through our funk in order to move on to something more beautiful.  I had better success yesterday.  I will be posting those cards later after the recipients receive them. :)

Halloween flip card

I am back with a Halloween flip card! I love Halloween and combining it with a Flip card is even better!

I used the Toil and Trouble stamp set from the Holiday catalog.  Item#131724 for wood mount, $22.95 and Item#131727 for clear mount, $16.95.  I used the crow image and the image with all of the words for the front of the flip card.  For the inside of the flip card I used the Tags for You stamp set with the
Label bracket punch.  Buy the stamp set and punch as a bundle and save 15 percent! The wood mount bundle is Item#133293 for $30.95 and the clear mount bundle is Item#133294 for $26.95.  You are going to want the punch with the stamp set anyway so why not purchase them together and save!

The designer paper is Witches Brew, item#132185, $10.95.

For the first time I don't have any of my Halloween decorations up yet!  We have been doing some remodeling with new main level carpets, upstairs carpets, linoleum and fireplace so everything has been removed from the rooms and slowly put back.  Everything is not back in its place yet so decorations haven't made it out yet.  I want to at least get a display on my new fireplace mantle because that is my favorite decorating and it really makes an impact in a room.

Halloween Pop up

I'm a big fan of Halloween! I love the colors, the whimsy and the fun!  I had my first stamp club meeting at my house since our hiatus over the Summer.  I had them make this fun Halloween Pop Up card with the Stampin' Up! Sizzix Pop-n-cuts.  You cut the base with a die and then place an insert for the inside pop up.  It is intimidating at first but I made 30 pop up cards for convention swaps this Summer and once you get the hang of it they go together pretty easily.

The front of the card is decorated with basic grey cardstock embossed with the chevron embossing folder and the Halloween washi tape.  See how the card tucks in to the slits?  That's all part of the pop up card and it works great for keeping the card closed.

The pop up is the dress form.  I decorated it with the dress up framelits and the Halloween paper to make a fun witches dress.  The mirror is made with the oval framelits and silver glitter paper and the label framelits for the frame of the mirror.  The oval I used extends beyond the frame on the bottom but you can't tell because it is tucked behind the dress.  The hat stand is made with the legs of the dress form and the witches hat is the large oval punch and the pennants punch.  This is a card for a special someone who will appreciate it and loves Halloween too!
