My son, Sam, got a job at a Cinemark movie theater here in the Austin area.  He is really liking this job!  One of the perks is that he gets a complimentary movie pass each week.  He accumulated two and gave them to my husband and I.  We used to go to movies all of the time but they have gotten so expensive!  This felt great to go to one for FREE!

We saw Hidden Figures.  I highly recommend this movie.  On our way out of the theater I told my husband I was feeling all the women power.  I was feeling myself and walking with a strut. LOL!  Something like this lady in the card below.

 

I saw this idea for this lady's dress on a Facebook group by fellow demonstrator, Tandra Boyer.  It's a super simple technique.  Here is a link to Tandra's video on how to do it.

I'm loving the new watercolor pencils.  I LOVE that they come in Stampin' Up! colors.  Now I want them in all of the colors!

This is going to a customer whose favorite color is pink!

Baby Bunny Blue Baby Boy Card

It just goes to show that you can used your holiday stamps for other occasions.  If you have the chance to go away or participate in a crafting session with other crafters I highly recommend it.  I think it does us all good to something creative.  It puts us in touch with our inner child and we can come out to play and have fun!  I feel very renewed.

Baby Bunny Pink Baby Girl Card

I spent the weekend on a crafting weekend with some other crafty ladies here in Austin.  It was so much fun!  It has been awhile since I spent the entire weekend being creative.  It did me a lot of good.  Diana, the organizer, rented a space called The Stitching Studio.  We all brought our own stuff to work on and then when we were ready to call it quits for the night we could leave our stuff out, go home and sleep in our own bed, and come back the next day.  This worked out so well!  Some people were working on scrapbooks, some were working on quilting, some on cards, and some on kits.  We all brought snacks and took turns bringing lunch.  I could go on and on.  Suffice it to say I had a great time with all of these ladies!

One of the main projects I worked on over the weekend was decorating a perpetual calendar.  Stampin' Up! provided a kit for one last year.  Most of the pages looked the same and were kind of boring in my opinion.  I wanted to make a unique page for each month and that's what I did with my stamps, inks, and embellishments.  I plan on offering as a club for my customers this year. 

The stamp set I used for April was Basket Bunch.  I actually used the bundle with the framelits.  I stamped and die cut a bunch of bunnies, eggs, and carrots ahead of time.  I wasn't sure which ones I would use on the page so I made up several.  With the leftovers I created a couple of baby cards with the bunnies.  Here is the baby girl version I made over the weekend:

Sale-a-bration and new Occasions Catalog!

My upline in Stampin' Up!, Karen Titus, had a challenge for anyone who wanted to participate.  The challenge was to use some items she sent us to make a card using stamp sets from the new Occasions or Sale-a-bration catalogs.  She sent Very Vanilla cardstock, a piece of designer paper, the ivory ribbon and the doily.  I LOVE a good challenge so I was totally on board with this! Above is my challenge card.  I stamped on Calypso Coral cardstock and cut out the bowl.  Then I stamped on very vanilla and silver slate cardstock and cut out the spoon and the batter.  This is called paper piecing.
