My Happy Stamping Place

This was one of the recipe cards for our February stamp club. I got the tall cake idea from somewhere but I can't remember where. The "frosting" is the silver glimmer paper. It is punched out with part of the square scallop punch. The cake stand is made with the word window punch and tag punch. This cake was so yummy! I'm not normally an Angel food cake fan but with this yummy frosting it was delicious!

We are having a family party for my boys' birthdays this weekend. They turn 12 and 14 in March. I'll be making some yummy new recipes I found from Pinterest. I'll share them here if they turn out as good as I'm hoping!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Do you have big plans with your loved ones today?  Usually, we pick up a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's, I layout the table with festive Valentine placemats and plates, I give them each a little gift and we have some kind of sweet Valentine treat for dessert. Unfortunately, this year we will be scattered in different directions.  My daughter, Rebecca,works(at Papa Murphy's!), Nick has soccer, and Sam has gymnastics.  There isn't even time for my husband and I to sneak away for a romantic dinner because we have to be back in time to pick the kids up.Oh well.  Life is busy!

My youngest, Sam, is in 6th grade.  This is his last year in elementary school and the teachers told them it was optional to bring Valentines.  Sam didn't really want to but I wanted one last year to make something for his classmates.  So reluctantly, he is bringing in these for his class:

You can find the bubblewands at Target.  I just made little tags to hang from their heart shaped handles.

For his teacher I made this treat holder with a punch art lady bug:

Wow card swap

Every quarter I participate in a card swap with stamp sets and accessories from the new mini catalog.  The Occasions mini catalog starts January 4 so I just finished up my Wow swap cards for this round.  For this one I used the new Mixed Bunch stamp set and coordinating blossom punch. Yippee!  Don't you love it when Stampin' Up! creates punches that match the stamp sets?!

This is actually a gate fold card so the middle panel is only adhered on the left side and the card opens in the middle.  The buttons keep the card closed.

Recipe:

Stamps: Mixed bunch(new!), Sweet Cake(greeting-new!)

Ink: Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango, Luscious Limeade, Crumb Cake

Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Luscious Limeade,

The kids go back to school tomorrow and my husband goes back to work.  They all had about a 10 day break.  I just had the 3 day weekend and that was a treat.  Now there's just a 4 day work week.  Yeah! January is going to be a busy one with 2 weekend gymnastics meets, band concert, ski club for both boys, soccer training and everything else.  Whew!

Santa box

Ooh my!  Can it be December 10 already? It sure can cuz it is!  I have been busy, that's for sure.  But hasn't everybody?  Lots of extra things to do at this time of year.  The Christmas decorations are all up(pretty much), a lot of my Christmas shopping is done, and we are in the thick of the party season.  We are going to my husband's Christmas party tonight.  One of the things on my to do list today is to buy a black shirt to wear tonight.  I have the rest of my outfit picked out, just not the black skirt.  Last year's doesn't fit me, in a good way!  I'll be wearing a pink turtleneck sweater with a scarf, black tights and knee high black boots.  You see the black skirt is all that is missing.  It should be easy enough to find - I hope.  When I go looking for something specific I can never find it.  Wish me luck!

I do have a cute Santa box to share with you.  I gave this to my Stampin' Up! hostess a couple of nights ago.   I CASED this from Debbie Henderson.

He's made with the petal cone die tilted up side down and a smattering of punches.

Punches: Wide oval punch(head), large circle scallop punch(beard), oval scallop punch(hair), stocking punch(eyebrows), circles for eyes from owl punch, bird punch(mustache) small oval punch(buckle) and scallop trim border punch to go all the way around the cone box.  I did this in sections . I think Debbie's version used ribbon but I couldn't get it to lay flat around each curve.

I have lots more to share.  I just have to get some photos taken and get them posted for you.  I also have a big box of new stamping goodies I'm itching to get my hands on.  This is new stuff from the upcoming Occasions mini and Sale-a-bration.  I have lots of Christmas to share with you first though.

Chicken Pizzaoli

Hi all!  We got snow for the first time this season.  I was in LaCrosse with my daughter, visiting my sister, Geri for the weekend. We didn't get any snow in LaCrosse but on our drive back we slowly drove into the snow.  It wasn't much.  Just enough to stick to the ground and make the roads slushy.   I think it's all supposed to melt by Thanksgiving.

We had to get back early today because I had Recipe club this afternoon.  Bonnie was the hostess and she brought 3 delicious items.  The main dish was Pizzaoli.  This was deeelish!  Here is the recipe card I created for it.

The chicken is made from the owl punch and a few other punches.  The idea came from Michelle Scileppi.  I can't tell you how many different punch art chickens I have made for my recipe club cards.  It's always good to find another one.  I love the clever way Michelle adapted the owl punch to become a chicken!

The designer paper is the oh-so-cute, Domestic Goddess.  I have been itching to use this paper and found just the project.  The ric rac is made from the Tasteful Trim Sizzix die.  I can't stop using this die!

I'll post the other recipe cards we made in club over the next couple of days.

Turkey punch art

I just love punch art, don't you?! I ran across this punch art turkey from Amy Copeland and I just new I had to CASE it!  We made this card in my stamp club last week.  It's amazing what that owl punch can be turned into!

The tail feathers are made from the Trendy Trees stamp set.  Besides the owl punch the turkey is made from the 1 1/4" square punch(partially trimmed to make a rectangle, star punch for beak(trimmed down as well), the stocking punch for the waddle(the heel part of the stocking). This was so much fun to make!

 

I took all of my Halloween decorations down this weekend.  It's not nearly as much fun taking it down as putting it up.  I dusted all of the shelves and plan to sloooooowly bring out the Christmas.  I know it's early but I have a LOT of Christmas decorations and need to pace myself.  It's a lot of work to decorate but I feel my house is truly at it's best when all decked out for Christmas.

Chicken punch art

At long last I have the chicken punch art I have been promising.  I made this recipe card for my recipe club. The chicken was made using the Pennant builder punch and few others.

This chicken was made using the pennants punch for the body.  I punched the triangle and then rouned the 3 corners with a 3/4" circle punch.  The bird punch is the wing, the daisy Sizzix die is the tail feathers and the rest uses the Boho blossom punch. I used the largest blossom and trimmed it for the headpiece, the beak and the waddle.

It's pretty easy.  I hope you enjoy it!

It's pizza and pumpkins for us tomorrow night. We are going to pick out our pumpkins and carve them for Halloween.  Friday night is always pizza night at our house and it fits in with the busy night we have ahead of us!

Candy Corn pennant

I saw this fun idea to use the pennant punch to make candy corn!  Here are a couple of cards with the candy corn.

I have a couple of friends coming over tonight to work on making halloween treat containers for our kids' classmates and some co-workers too.  I'm not sure what I'm making yet but I'll be sure to share what we all come up with!

We're still figuring out the kid's costumes for Halloween.  My youngest, Sam, wants to be a Marine.  This is fueled by his cousin who recently became a Marine and his love of guns.  My middle one, Nick, wants to be Axel Rose, the lead snger from Guns N Roses.  His friend wants to be the guitar player, Slash.  We'll be looking for a long blonde wig and a red bandana.  It should be interesting.  How are your Halloween plans coming along?

I hosted my Halloween Bunko night on Tuesday and my house is all decked out.  I'm ready!  We may even sneak in a Halloween party or two.  Such fun!

The stockings were hung

 I'm taking a little break from Halloween to bring you Christmas.  Can you believe it?  But really, if you are going to make Christmas cards you have to plan ahead.  This darling new set, called stitched stockings has a coordinating punch.  It even punches out separate pieces for the top trim, heel and toe!  It's easy to bling it up with the new silver glimmer paper.  Love it!

Graduation

We went to a Graduation Open House for my nephew, Brady this weekend.  I didn't realize I didn't have any graduation stamps.  Eek!  I'm going to have to remedy that next year because my daughter is graduating and there will be lots of graduating parties to go to!  So anywhoo, I have seen these graduation owls around and decided to go this route. I tried to keep it masculine and in his school colors.
