Pink ice cream

What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?  With the new Sweet Ice cream bundle you can make any flavor(or color) of ice cream you want!  I'm not eating sugar these days so making ice cream cards is the closest I will come to that.  But what a cute set!!!

I wanted the chance to use petal pink so that dictated the rest of my card.  The sprinkles add just the right touch of color and dimension.  Did you know the sprinkles are in Stampin' Up! colors?  How fun is that?  The colors are Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Purple Posy and Terracotta Tile.  And to complete the color coordination the designer series paper in this suite have those colors in it as well!  This is one of the things I so love about Stampin' Up!  The color coordination of products can't be beat!

I forgot to order the designer series paper on my first order from the spring catalog.  So I was looking around for a designer series paper with the colors I wanted and couldn't find one I had.  Whenever I want a background in a color I don't have already I look to my background stamps or more often the Best Plaid builder dies.  They are one of my faves! Out of this World

Pretty Poppies

When I was at the Stampin' Up! demonstrator event last November they were previewing product from the Spring mini catalog.  Poppies were prevalent.  I couldn't wait to get my hands on all of the products in this bundle!  There are a lot of coordinating products in this suite.  This is a pretty simple card with a sampling of those products.  A few things I want to point out about this bundle:  There are 2 of the leaves dies so you cut out more than one leaf at a time.  Genius!  The colored image is meant to be stamped inside the outlined flower image but it is not an exact line up match.  If you are a perfectionist and this drives you crazy don't use it in this way.  Instead color in the outlined image with Stampin' Write markers, blender pens and ink pads, aquapainters and ink, or my favorite, Stampin' blends!  There is also a couple of stamps that are meant to add texture to the flower and leaves.  Don't overlook these stamps.  They add some nice depth to your image. Quick Gingerbread card

I wanted to make a quick card with the new Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  I just got it on Tuesday and couldn't wait to see what it looks like. New cards and a stamping class!

Hellooooo?  Anybody out there?  I wouldn't blame you if you weren't.  It's been waaaaaay too long since I have posted anything.  My craft room is done!  Pretty much.  There are a couple of last few tiny things my husband needs to finish.  I have moved all of my stuff in.  Pretty much.  I'm waiting on Doug to finish those last few things and then I will take pictures of my new room and post them.

Two years ago I moved from Minnesota to the Austin, Texas area with my husband, Doug, and our two teenage sons, Nick and Sam.  Our daughter, Rebecca, stayed in Minnesota where she was attending college at University of Minnesota, Morris. A lot has happened since then!  Rebecca graduated from college and got her first job as a 3rd grade teacher in a tiny town called Murdock, Minnesota.  There are 3 towns that combine students for school called KMS. 

Our son, Nick, graduated from High School here in Texas.  He will be starting school back in Minnesota at St. Cloud State in a couple of weeks.  It will be just Doug, our son, Sam, and I in Texas.  While that will be tough, at least Rebecca and Nick will be living just over an hour away from each other.

So it's hot here in Texas in the Summer.  No secret there.  It is pretty much 100 degrees everyday. I have been spending a lot of time in the pool.  As I was floating in the pool the other day I kept seeing our back wooden fence with some hanging flower baskets next to them.  That inspired me to make a card!  I tried out two different versions.

The first one is with the Flower Patch stamp set.

Owl Birthday

The Holiday catalog goes live on September 1.  Just a few short days away!  Do you want another sneak peek from this catalog?  Of course you do!  I haven't gotten around to making holiday cards with the sets yet.  Instead I have been working on birthday cards using Christmas and Halloween sets.  There is a darling owl in the new stamp set, Howl-o-ween Treat.  We all know owls can be used for much more than Halloween.  Here is a card with that owl and a birthday theme.

I actually combined 3 stamp sets to make this.  You can see them listed below.  I just used the designer paper as my guide for the color scheme.  I love how this makes a card come together and color coordinate beautifully! And there is a framelit set that cuts out that owl with your Big Shot and the rest of the stamp set as well!  Love it!!!

My sons started their first days of 10th and 12th grade this past Tuesday.  My daughter starts her senior year of college on Monday.  I have two seniors!  She will be student teaching this year starting Monday.  She seems to really be liking the elementary education field.  I know this year will fly by for her!

I'll be making Christmas cards with this set real soon.  Maybe sooner than you would like but a girl has to play with new stuff!  I have fun new Halloween stuff too.  Is it too early for you for that?  Well, I may do the same thing with some of my Halloween and make it into birthday or baby or some other occasion first.

We are in the last minute back to school stuff mode in our house right now.  I took both boys to the dentist this week and Nick has a cavity.  Boo!  Luckily, I was able to sneak in another appointment to get that taken care of before school starts.  They both get physicals the day before school starts.  Talk about cutting it close!  School starts Tuesday, August 25 here.  I know some kids have started back to school already.  Yikes!

Stampin' Up! Convention 2015

I'm back from the Stampin' Up! Convention.  I had a blast and learned so much.  I have a lot to share with you so I will spread it out over several posts.  The Convention started out a little slow but picked up steam the 2nd day and quickly became the fun and information packed event I have come to know and love!

Here is a picture of the stage.  They always do a fabulous job on this design!

I had two ladies I met in Texas adopt me in their group and I roomed and hung out with them at convention.  Thanks to Melanie and Charlotte for inviting me to convention!  I made them roommate gifts to show my appreciation. 

We all get the same bag from Stampin' Up! when we check in.  I thought it would be helpful for us all to have our own unique bag tag to identify our bags from the rest.

These are mint containers I decorated with the Flower Patch stamp set, item#134207, $26.00 and the coordinating Flower Fair Framelits, item#133731, $25.00.  You can bundle them together and save 15%! Just use item#136788, $43.25 for both.

EOS lipbalm is the middle of the flower.  I used the Floral Frames Collection Framelits for the flowers, item#127012, $27.00.  I used the leaf from the Flower Fair framelits from above.  Attach with glue dots to a fun striped straw, emboss the flower with one of your embossing folders and you have this fun and easy project!

Here are their gifts all together.  I color coordinated the ink and cardstock so they all went together as a set.  I used Soft Sky, So Saffron and Watermelon Wonder inks and cardstock.  I used Old Olive for the leaves.

Beautiful Butterfly

I went to my friend, Melanie's, stamp class in February.  First I drove to her house by mistake and then I drove over to the place where it was really being held.  I arrived late but made most of the cards still.  This one I took the pieces home and arranged them differently.  I love how the butterfly looks cut out in designer paper.  The die does all of the work on this card.  The butterfly is really the focal point.  Colors are Crumb Cake for the base, Lost Lagoon for the embossed panel, and Very Vanilla and Strawberry Slush for the greeting.

 

My daughter is visiting us here in Texas this week for her Spring Break.  Unfortunately it is supposed to be raining or cloudy all week.  She and I are going to Corpus Christie today until tomorrow.  It won't be great beach weather but we are going to make the most of it.  It turns out temperatures won't be much warmer in Texas than they are in Minnesota this week.  I was hoping to have some nice sunny weather for her. Of course we will have that next week once she flies back to Minnesota!
