Pretty Perennials

It's March and the hope of Spring is in the air!  Here in Minnesota we are enjoying temperatures in the 40's this week with the promise of 50's by this weekend!  With Spring around the corner it makes me think of pretty flowers.  This stamp set and die cut bundle, Pretty Perennials, is at the top of my list to create cards with!

There are some milestone awards that Stampin' Up! demonstrators can achieve.  Some select demonstrators have reached the milestone of 1,000,000 in sales over their Stampin' Up! career.  That's a lot of stamps sold!  When a demonstrator reaches this milestone it is much celebrated.  One of the ways these million dollar achievers are celebrated is allowing them to collaborate with Stampin' Up! designers to create their own stamp set.  You will see an emblem next to the stamp set when it is one from one of the achievers.  The Pretty Perennials bundle is Dena Rekow's million dollar achiever stamp set.  I simply love it!  So beautiful!  It is just the right combination of stamp images and coordinating die cuts.  So many beautiful creations that you can make with it.  I demonstrated this card below on Facebook Live on my page last night.  You can find that video here.  

I started with a card sketch and the color combination from the paper pack, Berry Delightful, from Sale-a-bration.  There are a lot of colors in that paper pack.  I used a subset of those colors to create my card with.  If you can't come up with a color combination for your projects I encourage you to look to the designer paper packs for inspiration.  The designers do a fantastic job of combining colors, many I would never come up with on my own.  You don't have to use all of the colors in the paper pack.  You can choose some of them from the paper pack like I did on my card below.  All of the paper packs have a list of colors used on the back of the paper pack.

I couldn't find the exact card sketch I used for inspiration.  I may have adapted the one above.  I love to find different card layouts from card sketches.  You can do a search on Pinterest and find a bunch!

Flower & Field Ice Cream

I'm back with another ice cream card.  Ice cream is my mom's favorite dessert.  I have many stories of my mom and ice cream.  A good day on vacation for my mom is finding someplace with some good ice cream.  We always try to factor that in if we are somewhere with my mom.  When I was in high school, I waitressed at Bridgeman's.  We served food and lots and lots of ice cream.  My parents would stop in often to indulge in their favorite treat.  I loved making up the many different sundae combos we offered.  I didn't love the hideous uniforms we had to wear.  Basically a white nurse's dress with a bright pinafore that resembled 1970's kitchen curtains and our hair up with a bun cover in matching fabric.  Nasty!  Luckily, my card is much cuter than those uniforms!

We have below zero temperatures all week in Minnesota this week.  Really, it's too cold for ice cream but we can still enjoy a cute ice cream card!  I paired the stamp set with a pack of designer series paper called Flower & Field.  The paper pack is a FREE product during Sale-a-bration when you place an order of $50 or more.   It allowed me to use colors I may not have thought of for my ice cream card.

Pink elephant

I needed a new baby stamp set because I didn't have a current one.  The spring catalog came out and I fell in love with the Baby Pull Toys stamp set.  Bold outline images to do some simple coloring and printed font with mixed bold greetings. Super cute!  I have a BIG family and it seems like someone is always having a baby.  This time it's a little more personal.  My daughter is pregnant with our first grandchild!  So exciting!!! We couldn't see her and her husband over the Thanksgiving holiday when they wanted to announce it to us.  So this is how they told us she was pregnant:

They already know the sex of the baby and it's a girl!!!! This is the first grandchild on both sides of the family and we are all thrilled!  This will be one spoiled grandchild.  :)

Now I love that new baby set even more!  Here's a little sweet baby girl card with the stamp set.

Sweet Scoops

I'm back with another ice cream card because I was on a roll!  I used the Fine Art Floral designer series paper for the ice cream and the cone.  When I use dsp I like to back it with cardstock because it feels too flimsy to me.  I simply glue the cardstock to the back of the dsp.  You may notice the ribbon is dyed.  I started with the whisper white polka dot tulle ribbon.  If you want to see how to dye ribbon check out this video I did on Facebook awhile back.

Baby Blue

I didn't have a current baby stamp set from Stampin' Up! so I was thrilled to see this Baby Pull Toys stamp set in the spring mini catalog.  It's quick and easy to color in and has a nice bold outline.  I used one of my favorite backgrounds, the best plaid builder dies in the basic black cardstock with a white panel behind it.  

 

It's kind of crazy calling the new mini catalog a Spring catalog when we are in the middle of freezing cold temps here in January in Minnesota.  Spring won't arrive here until at least April.  I really want to go visit my son in Austin, Texas but I don't feel comfortable flying right now.  I haven't seen him since last February just before the Covid shut downs.  It would feel a lot more like Spring there.  I'll just have to stamp bright and cheery Spring looking cards until then.

Pink ice cream

What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?  With the new Sweet Ice cream bundle you can make any flavor(or color) of ice cream you want!  I'm not eating sugar these days so making ice cream cards is the closest I will come to that.  But what a cute set!!!

I wanted the chance to use petal pink so that dictated the rest of my card.  The sprinkles add just the right touch of color and dimension.  Did you know the sprinkles are in Stampin' Up! colors?  How fun is that?  The colors are Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Purple Posy and Terracotta Tile.  And to complete the color coordination the designer series paper in this suite have those colors in it as well!  This is one of the things I so love about Stampin' Up!  The color coordination of products can't be beat!

I forgot to order the designer series paper on my first order from the spring catalog.  So I was looking around for a designer series paper with the colors I wanted and couldn't find one I had.  Whenever I want a background in a color I don't have already I look to my background stamps or more often the Best Plaid builder dies.  They are one of my faves! Here's the card:

Spotted Strawberries

As we make our way through January I have found some time to get in my craft room and play with all of my new stamping products.  Sale-a-bration started in January and so did the Spring catalog so there are lots of new things to choose from.
